Roborock recently introduced its flagship model, Saros Z70, at CES 2025. The state-of-the-art robot vacuum is distinct due to its OmniGrip, a five-axis, AI-powered folding arm to handle small objects on the floor, making the cleaning process streamlined.
OmniGrip: The AI-Powered Folding Arm
The centerpiece of the Saros Z70 is its OmniGrip arm, said to be the first mass-produced foldable robotic arm with five axes. This futuristic limb can extend itself to grab objects like socks, tiny towels, tissues, and sandals weighing less than 300 grams.
It is equipped with a camera, LED light, and sensors, allowing it to identify objects, weigh them, and determine how best to manipulate them. It folds back into the robot’s body when not in use, giving it a streamlined appearance.

Advanced Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance
The Saros Z70 is powered by Roborock’s StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, a highly sophisticated navigation suite using 3D time-of-flight sensors, RGB cameras, and machine learning algorithms. It enables the robot to detect and go around up to 108 preprogrammed objects, making the cleaning efficient, even in very cluttered areas.
Furthermore, the VertiBeam obstacle avoidance technology enhances the robot’s maneuverability around extended cables and irregularly shaped furniture to avoid entanglement or collisions.
Cleaning Performance
The Saros Z70 offers fantastic cleaning features, aside from its object handling. These are as follows:
- Suction Force: The force with which it draws in dust and debris, coupled with pet hair from different floors is 22,000Pa.
- Mopping System: Two spinning mops lift up to 2.2cm and will avoid carpets while automatically detaching at the base station once the need to mop is negated, cross-contaminating floors.
- Anti-Tangle Brushes: The robot’s roller brushes have a dual anti-tangle system that reduces hair wrap and the need for maintenance.
- AdaptLift Chassis: The robot can climb over high room transitions and maneuver on high-pile carpets to ensure complete coverage of the home.
Multifunctional Dock 4.0
The Saros Z70 is compatible with Roborock’s new Multifunctional Dock 4.0, which has:
- Auto-Emptying: The dustbin of the robot is automatically emptied, minimizing manual intervention.
- Water Management: Refills and drains the water tanks of the robot so that the mopping system is always ready for use.
- Mop Maintenance: Cleans the mopping pads with hot water and dries them with hot air to avoid mold growth and unpleasant odors.
- Fast Charging: Equipped with 2.5-hour fast-charge capability, thereby reducing downtime between cleaning sessions.

Other Models: Saros 10R and Saros 10
In addition to the Saros Z70, Roborock has also unveiled two other models:
- Saros 10R: Shares many features with the Z70, including the StarSight 2.0 navigation and obstacle recognition system, but lacks the OmniGrip arm. It offers slightly lower suction power at 19,000Pa.
- Saros 10: An upgrade to Roborock’s previous flagship, the S8 MaxV Ultra, it features 22,000Pa suction power, a retractable lidar tower for low-clearance areas, and an improved VibraRise mopping system that vibrates 4,000 times per minute to simulate scrubbing.
Both of these models are developed to provide high-performance cleaning solutions, each suited to the specific needs of users.
Smart Home Integration and Matter Compatibility
All three models in the Saros series are designed to seamlessly integrate into modern smart homes. They are Matter 1.4 compatible, so they can work with any Matter-enabled smart home platform. This includes voice control through Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, Google Home, and Roborock’s own Hey Rocky voice assistant, giving users flexible and convenient control options.
Availability and Pricing
In the first half of 2025, Roborock announced the availability of Saros Z70, and so far, the company has not disclosed the pricing details. The Saros 10R and Saros 10 will be shipping from 10th February this year at a price of $1,599.99. These might try to appeal to the broad category of consumers looking for innovative, smart robotic cleaning solutions.
Summary
Roborock has introduced the Saros Z70 with an AI-powered OmniGrip arm, which is a significant step forward in robotic vacuum technology. By addressing common obstacles that impede cleaning efficiency, Roborock continues to push the boundaries of home automation, offering innovative solutions that enhance daily living.
