In the rapidly evolving field of robotics, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) has become a pivotal factor in advancing automation capabilities. Sereact, founded in 2021 by CEO Ralf Gulde and CTO Marc Tuscher, has emerged as a leader in this domain by developing AI-powered software that endows robots with advanced visual and manipulation skills.

Company Overview

Sereact is democratizing robotics by providing software solutions that allow robots to do a wide array of tasks without explicit training. Their flagship product, PickGPT, brings together zero-shot visual reasoning and natural language processing to enable non-technical users to instruct robots using simple chat interfaces. This innovation enables rapid deployment and immediate cost savings for industries like logistics and manufacturing.

Funding Details

The €25 million Series A funding round was led by Creandum, a venture capital firm that supports transformative technology companies. Point Nine and Air Street Capital, the existing investors, also participated, showing their commitment to Sereact’s vision and technological capability. This amount of investment will help the company to scale its expansion plans and technological capabilities.

Investor Insights

Johan Brenner, General Partner at Creandum, said, “Most AI robotics companies are still quite hardware-first. What makes Sereact interesting is that they are software-first, foundational, which means potentially the brain of any robot which requires vision and autonomous capabilities.” The above statement mirrors the rising acknowledgment of Sereact’s potential to set new standards in the robotics industry.

Use of Funds

The new capital is being invested in the following strategic areas:

R&D: Development of the AI software to accommodate a wider spectrum of robotic hardware platforms, including mobile robots and humanoids, hence expanding the usability across various applications.

Market Development: Further establishing its footprint in the United States by partnering with the right strategic players and hiring additional staff in the local office to pursue new markets and customer segments.

Product Diversification: Solutions of more complex kind than logistics or manufacturing, whereby Sereact can be projected as a thorough provider of robotics solutions powered by AI.

Technology Innovations

Its use of zero-shot visual reasoning in conjunction with natural language processing makes Sereact unique. While no training on explicit tasks has been done, robots can understand and execute these tasks based on simple textual instructions. This cuts deployment times and lowers the costs of operations with benefits that can immediately benefit the users.

Customer Roster

Sereact has attracted different customers, starting from the BMW and Daimler Truck on down to Bol, and Active Ants. With such partners and customers, the applied solutions of the company have been proven practicable and relevant in real operations, thus showing that Sereact is always a trusted entity for the deployment of sophisticated robot systems.

Within Series A funding of €25 million, Sereact has the potential to accelerate mission democratization through AI innovation. Expanding hardware compatibility, landing new markets and diversifying products will make it possible for Sereact to meet the changing needs of all industries. At its core, Sereact aims to stay ahead of the curve in AI innovation by offering solutions to support businesses in their quest for increased efficiency and agility in adaptation.

Summary

Stuttgart-based robotics firm Sereact has successfully closed a Series A funding round to the tune of €25 million. Creandum led the round, which also included participation from the firm’s existing investors Point Nine and Air Street Capital. Sereact aims to use this funding to accelerate research and development work, expand hardware platform support, and enhance its presence in the United States.
